An 18-year-old Santa Monica man was shot in the arm during a drive-by shooting in the Pico Neighborhood of Santa Monica Tuesday, January 3rd, Santa Monica police said.
Police assigned to the Pico Neighborhood detail received a call at 4:17 p.m. regarding shots fired in the area of the 1800 block of 16th Street in Santa Monica.
Officers immediately contained the area and a short time later they saw a dark vehicle leaving the alley, police said.
The vehicle was stopped in the 1200 block of Pico Boulevard and the occupants were detained.
A witness identified one of the occupants in the vehicle as a person who was allegedly seen holding a gun in his hand, police said.
During the investigation, police dispatch was notified of a male Santa Monica teenager who had walked into a local hospital with a gunshot wound to the arm.
The suspect in the shooting had not been booked at press time, police said.
The investigation is ongoing.
