Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) detectives are asking for the public’s help in locating the driver of a vehicle who allegedly struck and injured a 78-year-old woman who was crossing a street near Dockweiler State Beach in Playa del Rey early Friday, October 27th.
The woman, Guadalupe Santana of Los Angeles, who later died, was crossing Vista del Mar near Sandpiper Street in Playa del Rey at about 3:55 a.m., when she was struck by a car traveling northbound on Vista del Mar, police say.
The driver continued northbound and did not stop after striking Santana, police alleged.
Santana was taken in critical condition to Cedars Sinai Medical Center, where she died from her injuries Friday, November 10th, according to police.
The vehicle involved in the hit-and-run is described as a 1989 to 1993 Toyota Celica with front-end damage, police said. The car also had a missing left-turn signal lens and light frame.
