“Snoopin’ Around: The Story of David Asper Johnson and The Argonaut” is a tribute to the memory of Argonaut founder and former publisher Dave Johnson, and a celebration of the 40th anniversary of the newspaper.

The book focuses on the first five years of The Argonaut’s beginning on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 25, 1971 through 1975. Five year summaries for 1980, 1985, 1990 and 1995 are also included, as are the last two years that Johnson wrote for the paper until his death in 2006.

The stories were researched and edited, carefully chosen to reflect what was going on during those years in Marina del Rey, at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and in the communities of Venice, Playa del Rey and Westchester.

Boaters’ issues, Marina development, the growth of LAX and expansion to night flights into the airport are just a few of the many fascinating issues told through Johnson’s probing, witty and humorous stories.

“Snoopin’ Around” makes the perfect gift for friends and family interested in the local history, and is available at The Argonaut’s office for the discounted price of $16, or online at www.argonautnewspaper.com, Amazon.com and Lulu.com for $18.95.
