In high school baseball games:

The Westchester High School Comets defeated the visiting Fairfax High School Lions 5-2 in a Western League game Monday, March 26th.

The Comets (5-5, 2-1) will face the Lions again in a visiting league game at 3 p.m. Thursday, March 29th.

The Venice High School Gondoliers gave up the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning in a 1-0 Western League loss to host Palisades High School Monday, March 26th.

The Gondoliers (6-4, 1-2) picked up three hits in the game to five hits for Palisades.

Venice will again face Palisades in a league game at home at 3 p.m. Thursday, March 29th.

The Santa Monica High School Vikings racked up 18 hits to earn a 10-3 victory over Long Beach Poly High in the Redondo Beach tournament Saturday, March 24th.

The Vikings (6-2) scored three runs in the second inning and had a 4-0 lead before Poly scored its first run in the fourth inning.

Bryan Eyler and Rayvelle Holsome led the Vikings with three hits each.

Joe McGrew finished with seven strikeouts in six innings pitched for Santa Monica.

Santa Monica will next play Kennedy High of Granada Hills in a Redondo Tournament game at 3 p.m. Thursday, March 29th.

The St. Bernard High School Vikings earned their second Camino Real League win of the season with a 6-4 victory over host Mary Star of the Sea High School Friday, March 23rd.

The Vikings (2-6, 2-1) will next face visiting Serra High School in a league game at 3:15 p.m. Friday, March 30th.

In high school softball games:

The Westchester High School Comets picked up 11 hits to earn a 17-1 blowout victory over visiting Hamilton High School in a Western League game Monday, March 26th.

The Comets (7-6, 3-1) scored six runs in both the first and second innings and cruised to the victory in five innings.

Chelsea Leaf hit a grand slam to help lead Westchester to victory.

The Comets will next host L.A. CES in a league game at 3 p.m. Friday, March 30th.

Venice High School scored seven runs in the first inning on the way to an 11-0 shutout of the Fairfax High School Lions Monday, March 26th.

Jasmine McNeal and Danielle Mestas led the Gondoliers (10-2, 4-0) with three hits each in the victory.

Michelle Aver had three RBIs (runs batted in) for the Gondos.

Mestas finished with three strikeouts in four innings pitched for Venice, which will next play at L.A. CES in a league game at 3 p.m. Thursday, March 29th.

The Santa Monica High School Vikings defeated visiting South Torrance High School 4-3 in a non-league game Thursday, March 22nd.

The Vikings (11-2) took the early lead with a run in the first inning and added three runs in the second inning to take a 4-1 lead, which was good enough to hold on for the victory.

Santa Monica finished with eight hits in the game to four hits for South Torrance.

The Vikings will next face visiting Beverly Hills High School in an Ocean League game at 3:15 p.m. Thursday, March 29th.

St. Bernard High School scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to take a 7-6 non-league victory over visiting Windward High of Los Angeles Friday, March 23rd.

The Vikings (4-5-1, 2-0) scored three runs in the first inning and tied the game 4-4 with a run in the sixth inning.

After Windward added two runs in the seventh, St. Bernard responded with three runs to grab the narrow victory.

Shannan Valentin led the Vikings with four hits, including four RBIs in the game.

St. Bernard, which finished with 13 hits in the game, will next face host St. Monica High in a Camino Real league game at 3:15 p.m. Monday, April 2nd.

The St. Monica High School Mariners were defeated 7-5 by Crossroads High of Santa Monica in a non-league game Monday, March 22nd.

Alex Pegnato led the Mariners (2-6) with two RBIs in the game.

Tiffany Ramirez pitched a complete game and finished with eight strikeouts for St. Monica.

The Mariners will next face host Malibu High School in a non-league game at 3 p.m. Friday, March 30th.
