baseball games:

The Westchester High School Comets defeated host Hamilton High School 4-1 in a Western League game Tuesday, April 17th.

The Comets (8-9-1, 4-3) fell behind early against Hamilton but scored two runs in the third and fifth innings to take the victory.

Westchester, which outhit Hamilton 6-2 in the game, will play Hamilton again at home at 3 p.m. Thursday, April 19th.

The Venice High School Gondoliers scored in each of the first six innings to earn a 13-3 victory over host Fairfax High School in a Western League game Tuesday, April 17th.

The Gondos (10-8, 4-3) fell behind 2-1 at the end of the first inning but took control by scoring three runs in the second and four runs in the third.

Eric Alcantar led Venice with four hits, including four RBIs (runs batted in) in the game.

Venice will face Fairfax again at home at 3 p.m. Thursday, April 19th.

Santa Monica High School remains in first place in the Ocean League with an undefeated record after a 9-0 shutout of visiting Inglewood High School Tuesday, April 17th.

The Vikings (14-6, 3-0), who outhit Inglewood 9-3, took a 4-0 lead in the first inning that it never let go.

Casey Reese led the Vikings with two RBIs in the game.

Pitcher Devon Ramirez had nine strikeouts in four innings pitched for Santa Monica.

The Vikings will play Inglewood again in a visiting game at 3:15 p.m. Thursday, April 19th.

The St. Bernard High School Vikings were defeated 10-3 by host Bosco Tech High School in a Camino Real League game Tuesday, April 17th.

The Vikings are now at .500 in league play with a 4-4 record and overall record of 5-11.

St. Bernard will face Bosco Tech again at home at 3:15 p.m. Friday, April 20th.

The St. Monica High School Mariners picked up their second Del Rey League victory of the season with a 5-3 win over host La Salle High Tuesday, April 17th.

The Mariners (7-11, 2-5) were outhit in the game 10-6 but took a 3-1 lead in the third inning that it never gave up.

St. Monica will play La Salle again at home at 3 p.m. Friday, April 20th.

In high school

SOFTBALL games:

Shenaaz Burrell blasted two home runs to help lead the Westchester High School Comets to a dominating 11-1 victory over the visiting Venice High School Gondoliers in a Western League game Tuesday, April 17th.

The Comets (10-8, 6-2) had a 4-0 lead by the end of the first quarter and were up by ten runs after the second inning on the way to avenging a 6-3 loss to Venice (13-3-1, 7-1) earlier in the season.

Westchester will next play visiting University High School in a league game at 3 p.m. Thursday, April 19th.

Venice will next face visiting Palisades High in a league game at 3 p.m. Friday, April 20th.

The St. Monica High School Mariners were handed their first Camino Real League loss of the season in a 9-6 defeat to Cantwell-Sacred Heart Tuesday, April 17th.

The Mariners (5-8, 2-1) will next play at Windward High of Los Angeles in a non-league game at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, April 19th.
