Foodies craving casual but gourmet dining on the beach need look no further than “Mothers” Beach in Marina del Rey on Thursday evenings this summer.
Beginning Thursday, July 26, gourmet food trucks will be making weekly pit stops at the beach parking lot, offering a bevy of options from lobster and crab rolls; to Yucatan pork tacos and Peruvian cerviche cones, to Indian lamb frankies and savory samosas; to Vietnamese Bahn Mi sandwiches and black truffle cheeseburgers.
The weekly “Beach Eats” gourmet food truck events will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. at Marina Beach at 4101 Admiralty Way in Marina del Rey. The July 26 kickoff event will feature a variety of popular trucks, including Nom Nom, Border Grill, Baby’s Badass Burgers, Cousins Maine Lobster, India Jones and Sprinkles Cupcakes.
“We know how popular the trucks are, and we thought Marina Beach was a perfect pit stop for them. This is an opportunity for residents, visitors and those who work in the community and don’t feel like cooking after their commutes home to enjoy gourmet offerings at a beach,” said Carol Baker, spokeswoman for the county Department of Beaches and Harbors “They can have a tasty picnic on the shore and watch the sunset in the Marina.”
Paid parking is available on site. Food truck patrons also may take the Beach Shuttle, which operates from 5 to 10 p.m., or the WaterBus from six Marina locations directly to and from Marina Beach from 5 p.m. to midnight on July 26, Aug. 9 and Aug. 23.
The assortment of trucks will vary week to week.
