Playa Vista and Fourth District Los Angeles County Supervisor Don Knabe have again partnered to provide free beach shuttle service for residents and visitors to Marina del Rey this summer.
The Summer Beach Shuttle will operate on Fridays, weekends and holidays between Memorial Day weekend and Labor Day from Friday, May 22nd to Monday, September 7th. Friday and Saturday operating hours will be from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday and holiday operating hours will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. During four Thursday evening classical concerts at Burton Chace Park, (July 9th and 23rd, and August 6th and 20th) the shuttle will also operate from 5 to 10 p.m. to provide direct service to the park.
In addition, the shuttle will provide service for the Abbot Kinney Festival on Sunday, September 27th, between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
The free buses will travel from Playa Vista every 30 minutes beginning at 10:15 a.m., carrying passengers to major points of interest including Fisherman’s Village, the Waterside Shopping Center, Mothers Beach and the Venice Pier. There will be a pause in service between 3:15 and 4:15 p.m. to allow for the shuttle drivers’ lunch breaks.
The beach shuttles are powered by clean compressed natural gas. Space for bicycles is available.
