Editor’s Note: The Best Gets Better

Gratitude. The word may be a bit overused in social media posts from Venice Beach, but let’s not abandon its meaning: appreciation of goodness, and a willingness to pay it forward.

Westsiders enjoy the pleasure and privilege to live, work and play in one of the most dynamic, diverse and downright inspiring communities in the world. The Argonaut is thrilled to celebrate so many of the people, places and activities that help shape the identity of our community — more than 500 of them! — in this year’s Best of the Westside edition.

Thousands cast online ballots to show their appreciation for everything from local restaurants and independent retailers to the people who fix our cars and teach our kids. Now it’s our turn to thank the voters, salute the winners and pay it forward to you.
