Locali Venice, a 7-Eleven meets Whole Foods quick-service deli and market that specializes in vegan and organic foods, celebrates its grand opening today with a tasting party from 5 to 8 p.m. that includes a 6 p.m. ribbon cutting ceremony by the Venice Chamber of Commerce. Zagat recently named Locali’s Baaadasss Breakfast Sandwich, which includes vegan sausage and cheese on a multi-grain English muffin, one of its 10 best new sandwiches in L.A. The Candy Bar Hookah Shoppe, a hookah and vapor boutique that aims to rise above the grunge of a typical smoke shop, has opened in the Westchester Triangle. Active Barbers celebrated its grand opening in Santa Monica on April 11 with a festive party that included the release of two dozen doves and an auto rally by the Westside Originals classic car club. Proprietors Steve Moran and Robert Echiribel, both master barbers, teamed up with the Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce and Santa Monica Mayor Pam O’Connor to pull off the festive occasion, which also included a champagne toast and cake ceremony.
