Westchester resident Case Walker won a bronze medal at this year’s Los Angeles Academic Decathlon in the speech competition.

He attends the science, math and technology magnet academy at Westchester High School and received his award at an annual banquet Tuesday, February 20th.

Competing against hundreds of other high school students, Walker had to conduct a first speech that was composed, memorized ahead of time and presented within time constraints and a second impromptu speech.

Walker said he felt he had “nailed the impromptu speech, but presentation on the written speech had run overtime, which the judges deduct points for.”
