A special ceremony on September 10th celebrated the donation of $15 million from the Margie and Robert E. Petersen Foundation Cancer Clinics to Saint John’s Health Center and the John Wayne Cancer Institute, to name the cancer clinics in Saint John’s new Keck Diagnostic and Treatment Center in Santa Monica.

Robert Petersen was the founder of a magazine empire that gave birth to Hot Rod, Motor Trend, Car Craft, Rod & Custom, 94 auto-enthusiast titles and the Petersen Automotive Museum on Museum Row in Los Angeles.

Scheduled to open next year, the Margie and Robert E. Petersen Foundation Cancer Clinics will be the clinical home of the Radiation Oncology Center, the Breast Center and the Cancer Clinic. Funds also will be used to support leading-edge cancer research.

More than $30 million worth of rare, iconic cars from the Petersen Museum were on display at the celebration.
