The Los Angeles City Fire Department’s Westside Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) will hold a community meeting in Westchester Tuesday, Sept. 18 on how major media prepare for and respond to major disasters and how the media interface with the fire department.

Featured speakers will include Patrick Healy, news reporter for KNBC and Channel 4, Pete Demetriou, news reporter for KNX 1070 Newsradio, and LAFD firefighter/public service officer Erik Scott.

Capt. Jaime Moore, public information officer for the Los Angeles City Fire Department, will moderate the panel.

The meeting is sponsored by the Community Emergency Response Teams from West Los Angeles, representing CERT volunteers in LAFD Battalions 4, 9, and 18.

The meeting will take place from 7:15 to 9 p.m. at the training room of Fire Station 5, 8900 S. Emerson Ave. in Westchester. The training room is at the back of the property. Admission is free.
