The Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce and the City of Santa Monica will recognize this year’s Sustainable Quality Award (SQA) winners at a luncheon Tuesday, May 15th.

This year’s luncheon will include a keynote address by Linda Adams, secretary of the California Environmental Protection Agency. Ed Begley, Jr., star of HGTV’s Living with Ed, will emcee.

For 12 years, the Sustainable Quality Awards have celebrated local businesses that make extraordinary contributions to the community by honoring business achievement in economic development, social responsibility and stewardship of the environment.

This year’s Sustainable Quality Awards Grand Prize winners are Eco-Limo, The Phelps Group, reDiscover, RMC Water & Environment, Wilshire Restaurant, and Yoga Works.

The Excellence Award winners are London Sole, California Recycles, Ramer Architecture, and Venice Family Clinic.

The voluntary activities these businesses have undertaken result in cleaner air and water, less waste, reduced traffic and pollution, improved quality of life for residents and workers and a strong and viable local economy, according to Santa Monica city officials.

‘Attracting and retaining green businesses is an important element of a sustainable city,’ said Jim Lynch, president and chief executive officer of the Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce. ‘These businesses have shown that being green is an effective business strategy and they are making an important contribution to our community’s environmental, social and economic viability.’

The Sustainable Quality Awards Luncheon will be held from 11:30 to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 15th at the Fairmont Miramar Hotel in Santa Monica.

Pre-paid tickets are $45. Reservations, (310) 393-9825 or www.smchamber.com/events/.
