Santa Monica city officials joined residents of the Mountain View Mobile Home Park May 31 to celebrate the construction of 20 new sustainable mobile homes and recreational vehicles at the property.
The new sustainable and affordable manufactured homes at Mountain View, 1930 Stewart St., replace 20 older city-owned recreational vehicles and mobile homes. Ten of the homes have already been installed at the property and one of the homes was open for a tour as the city officially dedicated the project May 31.
The Mountain View Mobile Home Park is a city-owned property comprised of 105 manufactured homes for rent. The property includes common area facilities such as office/meeting space, bathrooms, laundry facilities and a small pool.
The new homes, manufactured by Golden West Homes and designed by Marmol Radziner Prefab, include solar photovoltaic panels, solar hot water heating and other features that make them energy-efficient and sustainable dwellings, city officials said.
The replacement of the 20 older residences is part of the Mountain View Mobile Park infrastructure and site improvement project. The cost of the new homes is funded through both federal (HOME, CDBG and stimulus) and local redevelopment agency programs.
