The City of Santa Monica will collect Christmas trees for recycling at four local parks beginning Monday, December 28th through the end of January, and at the city’s Refuse and Recycling Transfer Station throughout January.
Residents with curbside recycling service may place their cut-up tree in their yard waste collection container and are asked to remove tinsel, ornaments and stands from the tree.
City officials remind residents that it is unlawful and a serious fire hazard to leave unwanted trees at the curb or in the alleys. Community members are encouraged to recycle their Christmas trees by dropping them off at the following local parks December 28th through Sunday, January 31st:
– Douglas Park – Chelsea Avenue and Wilshire Boulevard;
– Reed Park – Lincoln Boulevard and California Avenue;
– Los Amigos Park — Fifth Street and Hollister Avenue; and
– Clover Park – 25th Street and Ocean Park Boulevard.
Residents also have the option of recycling their trees for free throughout January at the city Refuse and Recycling Transfer Station, 2401 Delaware Ave., Santa Monica. The facility is open from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Information, (310) 829-7323
Those who live outside Santa Monica city limits may call the City of Los Angeles Christmas Tree Recycling Hotline at (800) 5-TREE-56, (800) 587-3356 for information about recycling in their neighborhoods.
