Got a good name for a park?
Name suggestions may be submitted for the small neighborhood park planned in the 1500 block of Euclid Street (between Colorado Avenue and Broadway) to the City of Santa Monica by Wednesday, April 26th.
Designed by the team of Rios Clementi Hale Studios and artist Abbie Baron, the 15,000-square-foot park is the culmination of an extensive community design process that included several community meetings, two Recreation and Parks Commission meetings, and a joint meeting of the Arts Commission and Public Art Committee.
Community input received at public workshops held in October and December of 2004 and an extensive survey gauging park user preferences for amenities such as shade, seating, children’s playground equipment, gardening, security features, and landscape planning were incorporated into the final concept design, which evolved from several early schemes.
Construction is expected to begin by summer 2006 with an opening in spring 2007.
