Comic Bret Ernst to perform at Venice Underground special event
Venice Underground Comedy will present comedian Bret Ernst in its first “Special Event Tuesday” at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 11 at the historic speakeasy basement below Townhouse, 52 Windward Ave. in Venice.
Ernst headlines some of the top clubs across the country and has earned the sought-after honor of marquee status on the Sunset Strip, said Venice Underground host Bronston Jones. His half-hour special was ranked in the top five of the Comedy Central Presents series last year and his debut album, “American Comic,” quickly rose to the top 10 in iTunes Comedy.
“Bret headlined our two biggest nights ever, including the late show on our one-year anniversary,” said Jones. “He literally had people rolling on the floor laughing. Our regulars keep asking us to get Brent back, so we’re excited to have him launch our very first Special Event Tuesday.”
Ernst recalled having a lot of fun at his previous Underground performance.
“The Venice crowd is different than anyplace else in L.A., probably the world. And the venue is perfect for comedy too, intimate and unique. I can’t wait to get back to Venice Beach.”
Ernst starred in the feature film “Vince Vaughn’s Wild West Comedy Show,” which documented Ernst with Vaughn and three other comedians as they performed to sold-out crowds in a 30-night, 30-venue comedy tour across America. He was also featured on the BET series “One Mic Stand” and Showtime’s “Comics Without Borders.” Ernst has performed stand-up on The Late, Late Show on CBS, “Lopez Tonight” on TBS, and Comedy Central’s Premium Blend.
Tickets for the Venice Underground special event are $15. Online sales are available at www.LaughStub.com.
