The City of Santa Monica Cultural Affairs Division will unveil a set of draft recommendations designed to guide the future development of culture and arts in the city at 4 p.m. Wednesday, November 8th.

The meeting will be held in the Santa Monica Main Library Community Room, 601 Santa Monica Blvd., Santa Monica.

The city’s effort is called Creative Capital and the draft recommendations are the result of seven months of gathering information from Santa Monica residents, youths, artist business owners and community leaders.

Creative Capital analysts learned that Santa Monica’s economy is driven by creative industries to a “very large extent.”

The meeting will start with an informal feedback session at 4 p.m., a formal presentation at 6 p.m. with consultant David Plettner, and a City of Santa Monica Arts Commission meeting afterwards.

“We would like for as many Santa Monicans as possible to drop in, review the recommendations and discuss them with us,” said Jessica Cusick, manager of the Cultural Affairs Division.

In keeping with a focus on arts and culture, a young artist from the Miles Playhouse, Eric Sims from Powerhouse Theatre and Lisa Wolpe from the L.A. Women’s Shakespeare Company will perform periodically during the evening.
