Love, Connie, a dance comedy-thriller paying homage to “1980s pop music and stylized slasher flicks,” will be presented at 8:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, July 8 and 9 at Highways Performance Space, 1651 18th St., Santa Monica.

Love, Connie stars John Cantwell as Connie Slocum, and features Molly Cranna as Vickie, with a special guest appearance by actor/singer Kelly Mantle (The Confusion Of My Illusion, CSI, Nip/Tuck) as Bambi.

Connie Slocum, a sketch character Cantwell originated with the comedy trio The Nellie Olesons, is described as a loveable bikini queen who wants nothing more than to entertain an audience with her funky flash-dancing and pageantry skills. But a nemesis from her past threatens to derail her plans by putting her beloved Vickie in jeopardy.

Tickets are $20 for general admission and $15 for members, students and seniors. To purchase tickets online, www.highwaysperformance.org.
