Daybreak Designs, a project-based business started in 1999 as an extension of the Daybreak Shelter for women overcoming mental illness, will hold its annual holiday sale from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, December 8th, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, December 9th, at 1610 Seventh St., corner of Seventh Street and Colorado Boulevard, Santa Monica.
For sale will be a variety of specially-designed arts and crafts items, hand-painted greeting and holiday cards, jewelry and other collectibles. Raffle tickets will be sold to win a handmade quilt.
Daybreak Designs is run by the women of the Daybreak Shelter. The annual holiday sale provides an opportunity for the shelter’s artists and craftswomen to increase their limited income and learn self-supporting skills.
The shelter, a transitional housing program, provides six months of structured group living for up to 15 mentally ill women and is an OPCC (formerly Ocean Park Community Center) project.
