Debbie Lee has been appointed director of marketing and communications for the Bayside District Corporation in Santa Monica.

As the new director, Lee will be responsible for general marketing, promotions and public relations for downtown Santa Monica and the popular destination, the Third Street Promenade.

In addition, Lee will oversee publications and other key communication vehicles to promote and inform the public on issues related to downtown.

Lee brings ten years of marketing communications and community relations experience to her new position.

Prior to joining the Bayside District Corporation, her most recent position was vice president for business development with the Santa Monica Convention and Visitors Bureau.

In nearly eight years with the Convention and Visitors Bureau, Lee also worked as the director of communications and in several other positions to ensure an integrated approach to the bureau’s marketing, communications, sales and visitor outreach efforts.

The Bayside District Corporation is a public-private management company that works in partnership with the City of Santa Monica on issues impacting the area. The corporation is responsible for advising the city on strategic, long-term planning that will keep the area vital in the years ahead, corporation officials said.

On a day-to-day basis, the organization acts as a liaison to city departments on operational and maintenance issues and provides marketing and special events for the district.
