Marina Boat Rentals plans to have decorated boats that the public can rent to participate in the 42nd Annual Marina del Rey Holiday Boat Parade next week.

Decorated boats will parade in the Marina main entrance channel two evenings this year — between 7 and 9 p.m. Friday, December 10th, and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, December 11th.

A Zambelli-produced fireworks show at 5:55 p.m. Saturday, December 11th, will announce the beginning of the Saturday boat parade.

The boat parade entries will be judged during the Saturday evening boat parade.

Marina Boat Rentals plans to rent its decorated boats for $125 to $150 per boat for a two-hour rental.

Boats that will be decorated and available for rental during the boat parade are available for viewing on the Internet at:

Cindy Williams, president of the Marina del Rey Holiday Boat Parade, expressed delight at the availability of decorated boats for this year’s boat parades.

This will be the first year that the boat parade will be run on two nights.

Williams said that the Marina Boat Rentals manager is familiar with lighted boat parades in Newport Beach and wanted to have the Marina boat parade run five nights.

“We’re not quite ready for that,” Williams laughed, but we are excited to have our boat parade now on two nights.”

The theme for this year’s Marina Holiday Boat Parade is “Sights and Sounds of the Holidays.”

Entrance fees for parade boats are $25 for personal boats and higher for commercial entries.

Boat parade organizers are offering a “two for one” entry offer this year to boat owners who bring into the boat parade another boat owner who has not participated in a Marina boat parade previously.

The new boat parade participant will not have to pay an entry fee under the offer.

Boat parade entries will compete for a variety of trophies and prizes.
