The Third Annual Del Rey Art Walk, featuring a free self-guided tour of local artists’ homes/studios, will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, June 24.
Several new artists are participating in this year’s art walk, which will take visitors to 14 locations throughout the Del Rey community.
Also new this year are performances by four music groups at different locations, including the Del Rey Jazz Group, sponsored by the Del Rey Neighborhood Council, and Danny Meyer, a musician, teacher and producer.
One of the featured homes will showcase children’s art as a fundraising event for a local elementary school. Donations from the event, which is sponsored by the Del Rey Resident’s Association, will help purchase art supplies.
Works that will be displayed and for sale at the various homes include a variety of mixed media, oils, acrylics and water color paintings, bronze, clay-stone sculptures, pottery, photography, jewelry, iron and glass works, poster art, baskets and gourds.
Event organizers say one of the highlights on the tour is a home that was tiled by one of the artists.
The participating artists range from prominent working artists to somewhat novices, as well as those who have studied in the United States and around the world.
