The Kentwood Players theater group will present the musical Working Friday, March 13th through Saturday, April 18th at the Westchester Playhouse, 8301 Hindry Ave., Westchester.

Performances are scheduled at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday. Working was adapted by Stephen Schwartz and Nina Faso from the book by Studs Terkel, with songs by Craig Carnelia, Micki Grant, Mary Rodgers, Susan Birkenhead, Stephen Schwartz and James Taylor.ÝDance music is by Michele Brourman.

The original 1978 production was directed by Schwartz, for which he won the Drama Desk Award as best director.

Acclaimed author Terkel posed the question, “Do our jobs define us, or do we define our jobs?” by interviewing hundreds of ordinary Americans for his groundbreaking book “Working.” Multiple composers give music to the stories of their lives, which are sometimes funny and sometimes sad, a Kentwood Players spokesperson says of the musical.

The production is directed by Catherine Rahm, who says she is pleased to dedicate it to the memory of Terkel, who recently passed away. Lori A. Marple-Pereslete is the show’s producer, Vicki Kirk is the choreographer, and Maria Cohen is the costume designer.

Featured in the cast are LeVanna Atkinson-Williams, Patricia Butler, Jerry Cordova, Trenekia Danielle, Harold Dershimer, Emma Hatton, Alan Levine, Ben Lupejkis, Alison Mattiza, Peter Miller, Trevor Murphy, Cassandra Ristaino, Abby Martin Stein and Julie Urbanek.

Tickets are $20, with a $2 discount for seniors, students and servicemen. For reservations during box office hours, 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, (310) 645-5156. Tickets can also be purchased online at www.kentwoodplayers.org/.
