Dog grooming services — with 100 percent of the proceeds going to the Santa Monica Animal Shelter’s Volunteer Services Fund — will be offered by Groomerdude at Bark Williams, 2901 Ocean Park Blvd., Suite 118, in Santa Monica’s Sunset Park neighborhood, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, October 15th.
Contributions are tax-deductible, organizers say. The Volunteer Services Fund is used by the shelter to pay for veterinary treatment for all types of animals as well as assistance for pets of indigent owners.
Donations also enable the shelter to acquire shampoos, grooming aids, dog and cat treats and other extras that help the shelter staff and volunteers pamper the animals so they look and feel better while awaiting adoption.
Groomerdude salon owner and pet stylist Jeff Goodman is offering to trim nails, clean ears, express anal glands and brush teeth for dogs for a minimum of $5 for each service requested.
Donations may be made by cash or check. All dogs must be on leashes.
No appointments are required and everyone who shows up between 1 and 6 p.m. October 15th will receive service, a spokesman says.
Groomerdude can handle special needs dogs, such ones that are elderly, disabled, post-surgical or fidgety.
Nails are filed with an electric sander and ears are cleansed with veterinarian-approved solutions.
Equipment is used to safely and comfortably stabilize fidgety dogs.
Groomerdude is located inside Bark Williams, a pet boutique and self-wash emporium.
