The First United Methodist Church of Santa Monica is presenting a photography exhibit by church member Allan Walker to coincide with the Santa Monica Pier’s 100th anniversary next month.

The exhibit, which debuted August 2nd in the Fireside Room at the church, 1008 11th St., Santa Monica, will continue through September 9th, the date of the pier’s centennial. The photo exhibit is free and open to the public.

Walker graduated from Art Center College of Design with a degree in photography and went on to work at System Development Corporation for eight years, after which he worked as a freelance photographer all over the Los Angeles area including work for USC, advertising and public relations firms and graphic designers.

He says he is now retired and enjoys taking pictures for the love of the art, his original passion. The exhibit features photos of the Santa Monica Pier that Walker has taken over the years.

The Fireside Room will be open for viewing on Sunday mornings from 9 to 11:30 a.m. and is available at various times throughout each week. The church office is open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday.
