The Santa Monica Fire Department plans to conduct a “brief and solemn remembrance ceremony” at city fire stations Thursday, September 11th, in honor of those who lost their lives in the terrorist attacks on September 11th, 2001.
“We will not forget the events of that terrible morning nor will we forget how Americans responded at the Pentagon, in the skies over Pennsylvania and in New York City — with heroism and selflessness; with compassion and courage,” said a Santa Monica Fire Department statement.
The public, and particularly neighbors of the fire stations who are interested in participating, are invited to gather at city stations for an observance ceremony.
Events are scheduled at Station 1, 1444 Seventh St.; Station 2, 222 Hollister Ave.; Station 3-4, 1302 19th St.; and Station 5, 2450 Ashland Ave.
The ceremony will begin at 6:45 a.m. and is expected to last about 20 minutes.
