Venice High School junior running back Curtis McNeal was unstoppable as he racked up seven touchdowns to lead the Gondoliers to a 55-27 Western League victory over host Hamilton High School Friday, October 27th.

Defending league champion Venice (6-2, 3-0) took over first place in the league and put itself in strong position for another league title this season with the commanding victory over second-place Hamilton.

McNeal, who finished with 24 carries for 291 yards rushing, continued his spree of impressive performances that included a five-touchdown effort October 20th against Westchester.

The running back, who leads the Western League with 1,498 rushing yards this season, picked up his seven touchdowns against Hamilton with runs of one, two, three, 15, 15, 47 and 72 yards.

The Gondos scored three touchdowns in the first quarter and held a 34-14 lead at halftime.

Venice junior quarterback Richard Ragland finished nine-of-19 passing for 179 yards.

The Gondos will next play at University High School in a league game at 7 p.m. Friday, November 3rd.

The Westchester High School Comets scored a touchdown late in the fourth quarter but were unable to overcome the deficit, as host University High School held on for a 26-19 Western League victory Friday, October 27th.

The loss keeps the Comets (2-6, 0-3) winless in league play.

Senior quarterback Isiah Barton scored two touchdowns for Westchester, including a seven-yard pass to junior wide receiver Phillip Freeman.

The Comets will next host Palisades High School at 7 p.m. Friday, November 3rd.

The St. Bernard High School Vikings grabbed their second consecutive victory with a 57-7 blowout of host Bosco Tech High School in a Del Rey League game Friday, October 27th.

The Vikings (2-6, 2-1) scored three touchdowns in the second quarter to take a 37-0 lead at halftime and held Bosco Tech scoreless until the fourth quarter.

Junior quarterback Ryan Simpson led the Vikings with three touchdowns, including runs of two and 40 yards, and a 13-yard pass to senior Ashton Harris.

Junior running back Adam Long finished with five carries for 99 yards rushing and two touchdowns.

St. Bernard will next host Cathedral High in a league game at 7 p.m. Friday, November 3rd.

The St. Monica High School Mariners lost 56-0 to host Cantwell-Sacred Heart High School in a Camino Real League game Friday, October 27th.

The Mariners (0-8, 0-2) will next host Verbum Dei High School in a league game at St. Bernard High School at 7 p.m. Saturday, November 4th.
