Four Santa Monica elementary schools have been named California Honor Roll schools for 2007, the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District (SMMUSD) has announced. The California Honor Roll school are named every year by the California Business for Education Excellence Foundation and Just for the Kids-California, an affiliate of the National Center for Educational Accountability.

The schools receiving the honor are Franklin Elementary School and Roosevelt Elementary School of Santa Monica, and Point Dume Marine Science School and Webster Elementary School of Malibu.

The schools are being recognized for their “outstanding success in raising student achievement.”

“This award is a great honor for our schools,” said school Superintendent Dianne Talarico. “It’s wonderful to see our students, teachers, administrators and staff receive well-deserved kudos for their hard work.”

The four elementary schools will receive the recognition at an Awards Dinner and Best Practice Institute Tuesday, November 6th, at the International Hotel in Century City.

The Best Practice Institute will begin at noon with a luncheon, leading into breakout sessions that will feature panels with high-performing principals.
