THE WESTCHESTER MENTAL HEALTH GUILD’S garden tour will feature six residential gardens in Playa del Rey and Westchester, including this desert and cactus garden with a variety of plants.

The Seventh Biennial Garden Tour of the Westchester Mental Health Guild, showcasing six residential gardens in Westchester and Playa del Rey, will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 28.
In addition, the tour will feature the Emerson Avenue Community Garden at Orville Wright Middle School, which will have an open house at Emerson Avenue and 80th Place in Westchester.
The six residential gardens on display have incorporated diverse styles, plantings and land use. The properties include a variety of features such as pools, ponds, spas, outdoor rooms, kitchens and patios.
Some of the gardens include ceramics, sculptures and other pieces of art. Event organizers say that visitors may come away from the tour with many ideas and helpful information for their own garden.
Tickets to the garden tour are $25 and are on sale at the Guilded Cage Gift Shop, 8917-B S. Sepulveda Blvd. in Westchester. Children under 12 are free when accompanied by an adult. Online purchase of tickets is available at http:/wmhg2013garden.eventbrite.com.
Tickets may also be purchased on the day of the event at the Emerson Avenue Community Garden.
The net proceeds from the garden tour will benefit the Airport Marina Counseling Service, which works to provide affordable mental health care services and training to pre-licensed therapists in the community.
Ticket holders can also visit the Guilded Cage boutique featuring gift items related to the garden, and complimentary refreshments provided by the Westchester Mental Health Guild board will be served at one of the designated gardens.
