In other high school football games:

The Venice High School Gondoliers cruised to a 42-0 shutout victory over host Palisades High School Friday, November 2nd, to remain undefeated in Western League play.

Since suffering their only defeat of the season, a 21-19 loss to Banning October 5th, the Gondoliers (8-1, 4-0) have picked up four consecutive victories.

The victory over Palisades sets up a showdown with Fairfax High School, which suffered its first league loss to Westchester November 2nd.

Venice was forced to forfeit its co-league title from last season after the Gondos played with an academically ineligible player.

The Gondos will try to recapture the outright league crown in the last game of the regular season against host Fairfax at 7 p.m. Friday, November 9th.

The Westchester High School Comets picked up a 26-12 victory over visiting Fairfax High School Friday, November 2nd, to hand the Lions their first league loss of the season.

The Comets (4-5, 2-2) wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, as they scored a touchdown on their first play with a 65-yard run by Greg Dudley. The running back led Westchester with 14 carries for 144 yards rushing in the game.

Andre Buford added 17 carries for 78 yards rushing.

Westchester will close out the regular season in a league game against host Hamilton High School at 2 p.m. Friday, November 9th.

The St. Bernard High School Vikings scored two late touchdowns to take a narrow 21-20 Del Rey League victory over host Cathedral High School Friday, November 2nd, giving them a chance to earn the league title this season.

The victory kept the Vikings (6-3, 4-0) undefeated in league play and set up a battle with Serra High School for the outright league crown.

After trailing Cathedral 14-7 at halftime and 20-7 in the fourth quarter, St. Bernard added two touchdowns, a 55-yard pass by senior quarterback Ryan Simpson to Sterling Jordan and a 58-yard run by Adam Long, to grab the key victory.

Long led the Vikings with ten carries for 82 yards. Simpson finished six-of-nine passing for 128 yards and two touchdowns.

St. Bernard will finish off the regular season at home against Serra at 7 p.m. Friday, November 9th.

The St. Monica High School Mariners were shutout 40-0 by visiting La Salle High School in a Camino Real League game Saturday, November 3rd.

The Mariners (0-9, 0-3) will end their season in a league game against host Mary Star of the Sea High School at 7 p.m. Friday, November 9th.
