HMSHost Corporation, a company providing restaurant and retail concessions at airports throughout the world, including Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), has been recognized for its participation in the “Hire LA’s Youth” program.

The program provides teens and young adults with jobs in the public, private and nonprofit sectors. The initiative aims to provide youths with additional opportunities to develop skills and enter the workforce in a productive manner.

HMSHost, which was recognized by the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Aviation Committee, has participated in Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa’s program since its inception in 2007.

“The Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce applauds HMSHost for its commitment to L.A. youths and developing the workforce of our region,” said Gary Toebben, Chamber of Commerce president and chief executive officer.

Hire LA’s Youth program, which includes a summer youth employment program for teens ages 14 to 21, is administered by the city’s Community Development Department.

In the past two years, the program has provided 10,000 summer job positions.
