The G2 Gallery in Venice will celebrate the openings of two new exhibits, Nature LA: Oceanscapes and Winter Wonderland, during its Holiday Festival from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2.
The family event, which will coincide with First Friday on Abbot Kinney Boulevard, will include live music inside and out of the gallery, Santa and his elves, and treats.
Nature LA: Oceanscapes features works by photographer Nathanial Havholm, and Winter Wonderland features photographs by Justin Black and Jim Stimson. Both exhibits will be on view through Dec. 31 at G2, 1503 Abbot Kinney Blvd., Venice.
Havholm is expected to attend the Holiday Festival to discuss the genesis of his Oceanscapes series, inspired by the work of maritime writer Stephen Crane. The Winter Wonderland exhibit will be on display in the G2’s new Garage Gallery.
Other activities include a performance by Victoria Rowe and the Jazz, playing classics, standards, and carols upstairs inG2’s main gallery with a full band including, piano, upright bass, drums and vocals.
A live saxophone player will also be on the street corner by G2 playing Christmas tunes.
A $5 admission at the door will directly benefit the G2 Gallery’s Third Annual 12 Stockings, 12 Days of Christmas fundraiser, which supports local and international non-profits working in the environment and animal welfare. The list of participants this year includes Audubon California, Catalina Island Conservancy, Delta Society, Earthjustice, Environmental Media Association, Friends of Ballona Wetlands, Heal the Bay, National Wildlife Federation, Natural Resources Defense Coucil, Surfrider, Wildlife Alliance, and World Wildlife Fund.
