Santa Monica police were called to the 1700 block of Ocean Front Walk at 9:54 p.m. Thursday, July 29th, regarding a stabbing that had just occurred.

When police officers arrived, they found the victim lying on the ground with several stab wounds to the upper body.

The victim is identified as a 42-year-old homeless man. He was taken to a local hospital and underwent surgery. At press time, he was listed in serious but stable condition.

The suspect is identified as Jacquelyn Tracey Weathers, a 33-year-old homeless woman.

She was booked at Santa Monica Jail and charged with attempted murder, probation violation and an outstanding felony warrant.

Her bail has been set at approximately $1 million.

After the assault, the suspect reportedly fled on foot southbound on Ocean Front Walk.

The suspect was detained by officers in the 2000 block of Ocean Front Walk.

A field show-up was conducted at the scene and witnesses positively identified the suspect, police allege.

Officers recovered the weapon allegedly used in the stabbing.
