The city of Santa Monica has launched a new web portal for homeless services information, www.smgov.net/homelessness.
The site is designed to provide a central location to learn more about local efforts to address homelessness in the community, including Santa Monica’s Action Plan to Address Homelessness.
The plan focuses on the most vulnerable and chronically homeless individuals. As part of the effort, the city, nonprofit agencies, housing providers, government partners, and representatives from the business and faith communities are working together to connect chronically homeless people with services and permanent housing.
The approach also includes working with neighboring communities to form collaborations and to promote a fair distribution of resources that address homelessness on a regional level and to promote development of housing and services throughout Los Angeles County.
The new website additionally provides information on city initiatives, including the annual public review of the Action Plan, and the Annual Citywide Homeless Count, scheduled in January.
