The Marina del Rey Holiday Boat Parade is distributing information to boat parade entries on what boat owners should and should not do to impress judges of the 43rd Annual Marina del Rey Holiday Boat Parade. Called “How to Impress a Judge 101,” the boat parade co-sponsors suggest:
1. Be different: Use light patterns other than just lining your rails. Use animation.
2. Be colorful: Use deck displays and lights with a lot of variety and color that demand attention. One, two or even three colors in a specific pattern or patterns can be very attractive.
3. Be bright and visible: The more lights, the better the impression. Light the objects on your boat, such as scenes, deer, elves, etc. Remember, you want to be seen from a distance of 300 to 400 feet.
PLEASE MAKE YOUR ENTRY NUMBERS VISIBLE AND ILLUMINATE THEM FOR THE JUDGES
