Jean Shirley Zorn Brown, a 40-year resident of the Marina del Rey area, died Friday, May 13th, of Alzheimer’s disease. She was 77 years old.
She was cremated by the Neptune Society.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 28th, at the adult care hospice Berkley Gardens, 2620 Broadway, Santa Monica.
Brown was born October 1st, 1927, on a farm near Calder, Saskatchewan, Canada.
She graduated as a registered nurse from Toronto Western Hospital in 1950 and worked as a floor nurse for Sutter Memorial Hospital in Sacramento until 1957, when she married David Brown.
In 1965, the couple moved to Marina del Rey and lived in several apartments before moving into a townhouse in the Marina area in 1978.
The Browns later moved to a home on the Grand Canal.
Jean Brown was interested in fine cuisine, and she took weekly cooking lessons from Chef Gregoire in Encino and traveled extensively.
Brown is survived by her husband, David, sisters Alice and Eileen, brother Claude, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Brown’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association.
