Longtime real estate developer Jerry Epstein, and his wife, Pat Epstein, will be honored by the Saint John’s Health Center Foundation of Santa Monica with the 2008 Spirit of Saint John’s Award.
The Health Center Foundation will present the award to the Epsteins during the black-tie Caritas Gala Saturday, October 11th, at the Beverly Wilshire hotel in Beverly Hills.
The event, hosted by the Irene Dunne Guild, will also honor legendary screen and stage actress Rhonda Fleming Carlson. Guild members Catherine Corlin and Judy Piro co-chair this year’s event.
Jerry Epstein, a Health Center Foundation trustee, and his wife Pat are being recognized with the Spirit of Saint John’s Award for their extraordinary contributions and dedication to Saint John’s Health Center, according to the foundation.
Epstein, has worked in real estate development, construction and management in the Los Angeles area for 50 years, including early involvement in Marina del Rey. He has been a member of the foundation board of trustees since 1975 and served as chairman in 2006 and 2007. Over the years he has actively participated in various hospital and Health Center Foundation initiatives.
Epstein is the general partner of Del Rey Shores and Marina Harbor in Marina del Rey. He has served on the Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners, the California High Speed Rail Authority, the Board of Directors of the Jewish Federation of Los Angeles, the Southern California Division of the National Conference for Community and Justice, as well as a committee overseeing County USC Medical Center construction.
Pat Epstein is one of the founding members of the Irene Dunne Guild who continues to be an integral part of the support group, foundation members say.
The 2008 Caritas Award for lifetime achievement will be presented to Fleming Carlson, who will be recognized as a legendary star of stage and screen, humanitarian and supporter of Saint John’s.
The Caritas Gala is co-hosted each year by the Irene Dunne Guild in partnership with Saint John’s Health Center Foundation to honor individuals who exemplify dedication and commitment to the community and embody the philosophy and mission of Saint John’s. Proceeds from the gala benefit programs and services at Saint John’s Health Center.
