Julie Wegner, an eighth-grade student at First Lutheran School of Venice, will attend the Junior Presidential Youth Inaugural Conference in Washington, D.C.
The conference will be held from Sunday through Friday, January 16th to 21st.
Wegner, from Culver City, was selected for her exemplary performance in the classroom and interest in leadership.
She will also join nearly 400 middle school students from around the country who will be attending the Presidential Inauguration.
“We certainly hope this will inspire the next generation of United States leaders,” said Mike Lasday, executive director of the Congressional Youth Leadership Council.
Lasday’s organization is sponsoring the youth conference.
In addition to attending inauguration festivities, Wegner will participate in learning activities such as Electoral College information, lobbying and learning how to create a party platform.
Wegner and the other students will also explore presidential leadership traits, campaign tactics and the history of campaign outcomes.
