The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) Pacific Community Police Station has scheduled an open house from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, October 28th, at the station, 12312 Culver Blvd., in the Del Rey area.
Admission is free. Food and refreshments will be available for purchase, with proceeds benefiting the Deputy Auxiliary Police and Explorers youth programs.
The open house features a chance to “meet-and-greet” local police officers and detectives, a tour of the police station, opportunities to sit in a jail cell, a vintage LAPD car and the LAPD Race Car, which is believed to be the world’s fastest Chevrolet police car.
The Bomb Squad, Beach Detail, Motorcycle Detail, Dive Team, K9 Unit, 911 operators and officers from police youth programs will be available to answer questions and discuss their work. The Los Angeles City Fire Department will be present to discuss earthquake safety.
The Neighborhood Council of Westchester/Playa del Rey is sponsoring the free Earthquake Simulator, in which the public can experience the simulated shaking of an 8.0 magnitude earthquake.
