The Pacific Division station of the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) annual community holiday toy drive, which brings holiday gifts to underprivileged children, continues through Saturday, December 15th.
All toys will go to children who reside within the Pacific Division’s boundaries.
The department is asking those who wish to participate to donate a new unwrapped toy, which can be dropped off at the Pacific Station lobby at 12312 Culver Blvd., Del Rey
For large donations or cash donations, contact Senior Lead Officer Heidi Llanes at (310) 622-3917 or email@example.com.
Steve Beck, the owner of Checkpoint Automotive in Mar Vista and past president of the Shelby Club, assisted in the toy drive. He and members of his car club have collected and donated over 200 toys thus far.
In the past, the organization has participated in toy drives with the United States Marines and the California Highway Patrol.
“This is the first time that we have done this for [the Pacific Division station],” said Beck. “A friend of one of our members mentioned to me that this was going on, so we decided to help out.”
Beck said that it gave him a good feeling to be a part of such a worthwhile effort.
“It’s all about getting toys to kids who can’t afford them,” he said.
The Shelby Club is an independent car club for automobile enthusiasts.
