The LAX Coastal Area Chamber of Commerce will name Marina del Rey Convention and Visitors Bureau Executive Director Bev Moore as its honorary mayor for the coming chamber year at an installation gala Friday, June 15.

In addition, the chamber will appoint Tony Palermo, owner of Tony P’s Dockside Grill in Marina del Rey, as 2012-13 board chairman. The event is scheduled at 6 p.m. at the Marriott Marina del Rey, 4100 Admiralty Way.

The chamber’s honorary mayor is considered the organization’s number-one ambassador of good will. Moore has more than 30 years of experience promoting travel and tourism destinations and has a true passion for Marina del Rey, chamber officials said.

In his role as board chair, Palermo will serve as a leader and figurehead in the local LAX coastal area business community. Since 1997, when Tony P’s first opened its doors, Palermo has donated thousands of dollars and hours to the community, chamber officials said.

Palermo was past chair of the Los Angeles Chapter of the California Restaurant Association and is currently an active member of the Marina Convention and Visitors Bureau.

The chamber will additionally present over 15 awards to key chamber players and volunteers for their efforts over the past chamber year.
