To the Editor:
I am amazed that our local press and our local community activists, including me, had heard nothing, until now, about this incident [the low-altitude buzzing of the Santa Monica Pier by a local pilot in a military jet which occurred in November, 2008] reported on in the Sunday Los Angeles Times, November 8th, 2009.
It is an informative article that brings to light significant weaknesses in the FAA’s procedures with regard to aviation safety. I am amazed, after 9/11, that an incident like this could happen. Have we learned nothing?
