The Carl Verheyen Band will give a live performance Friday, Aug. 19 at the G2 Gallery in Venice for a fundraiser benefiting FixNation, a nonprofit organization providing free spay/neuter services for homeless cats in Los Angeles.
The event is scheduled from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at G2, 1503 Abbot Kinney Blvd., Venice. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., with the musical performance starting at 8 p.m.
According to FixNation, there are estimated to be millions of homeless cats in Southern California and that number is growing each day.
Karn Myers and Mark Dodge say they founded FixNation in 2007 as a nonprofit organization to bring about the day of “No More Homeless Cats” by humanely reducing the numberof stray and feral cats through sterilization.
Verheyen, a member of the British rock group Supertramp, has been hailed as, “One of theTop 10 Guitar Players in the World,” by Guitar magazine. He said he personally became connected with FixNation when his wife adopted a stray kitten from the organization.
Verheyen has performed/recorded with luminaries ranging from Christina Aguilera, to B.B. King, to Leanne Rimes, amongst countless others over his career.
Tickets range from $25 to $125 each and can be purchased online at www.fixnation.org. All ticket purchases include food, drinks, valet parking, and participation in the silent auction featuring unique prizes and getaways, as well as a complimentary gift bag.
