The Loyola Marymount University (LMU) baseball team came up short in the deciding Game Three of the 2005 West Coast Conference Championship Series, losing 18-8 to Pepperdine University Sunday, May 29th.

After winning their second consecutive West Coast Conference division title this season, the LMU Lions hosted the conference championship series at Page Stadium for the second consecutive year.

LMU opened the championship series with a 7-3 victory over Pepperdine Friday, May 27th, but the Waves won 7-5 Saturday, May 28th, and earned the series title Sunday in front of a record crowd of 1,013 at Page Stadium.

The Lions entered the conference championship series after winning 14 of their final 16 regular season games, a new LMU baseball program record.

The team made its fourth conference championship appearance in seven years and finished the season with a record of 31-27.
