Loyola Marymount University (LMU) junior women’s basketball player Amanda DeCoud has been named Defensive Player of the Year for the West Coast Conference (WCC).
The five-foot-seven DeCoud is the first LMU Lion to take home Defensive Player of the Year honors since Adrianne Slaughter received the recognition in the 2002-03 season.
DeCoud, of Moreno Valley, also received honorable mention to the All-West Coast Conference Team this season, along with senior forward Ashlee Dunlap and junior forward Jennifer Hall.
Teammate Amanda Patton, a five-foot-nine senior guard from Valencia, was the only LMU player to be named to the All-WCC Team this year.
The Lions, who have an overall record of 17-11, including a 9-5 record in WCC play, will begin the first round of the WCC Tournament in Portland, Oregon Thursday, March 1st.
