Vons stores in the Marina del Rey area are raising money this month for services provided by Easter Seals to local residents with disabilities.
The month-long campaign is taking place at all Marina del Rey, Santa Monica, Westchester and Mar Vista locations, where customers will be given the option at every check-out counter to make a contribution to Easter Seals.
Each store is encouraged to participate in other in-store fundraising activities to benefit Easter Seals.
Donations at Vons and Pavilions stores across Southern California help Easter Seals provide job training and employment opportunities, pre-school and after-school services, independent living options that keep people in their own homes instead of institutions, and services that help adults learn daily living and social skills.
ìIn the last four years of this campaign, Easter Seals Southern California has seen first-hand the positive impact of the money raised by Vons and Pavilions,î said Mark Whitley, chief executive officer of Easter Seals Southern California. ìTheir support helps Easter Seals provide services for people with autism, independent living services, and expanded employment services for adults and teens transitioning from high school to work.î
Last year, Vons raised over $1 million in support of Easter Seals Southern California.
ìWe know that Easter Seals Southern California consistently ranks among the most efficient charities at serving people with disabilities,î said Juan Rivera, manager at a Santa Monica Vons store at 820 Montana Ave.
ìWe are proud to support their efforts in our community.î
