The Venice Family Clinic treated more than 1,000 low-income youths to a private, advanced screening of the new 3D film Yogi Bear, courtesy of Warner Bros., as part of the 23rd annual Children’s Holiday Movie event in Marina del Rey Dec. 11.

The special holiday party for the youngsters also featured wrapped gifts from Santa Claus and carols sung by a local school choir.

Members of the local community sponsor children to attend the Children’s Holiday Movie by making a donation to Venice Family Clinic.

And because almost everything at the event – from the theaters to the movie to the toys and snacks – is donated, nearly all of the funds raised will benefit Venice Family Clinic’s pediatric programs in 2011.

Each year, the Children’s Holiday Movie raises more than $80,000 for Venice Family Clinic, which is the largest free clinic in the country, serving more than 24,400 low-income and uninsured patients annually through nine sites in Los Angeles County, a clinic spokesman said.
