Former Rep. Jane Harman was honored for her career of service to the Los Angeles area with the Los Angeles Parks Foundation’s first annual Rose Award May 5.

The Rose Award honors women who have made a significant contribution to the quality of life in Los Angeles.

Harman, who resigned earlier this year after serving more than 16 years in Congress, is now president and CEO of the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, as well as a board member of The Newsweek Daily Beast Company.

She was introduced at the ceremony by former City Councilwoman Rosalind “Roz” Wyman. The event was emceed by award-winning KCBS news anchor Pat Harvey.

The Rose Award luncheon benefits the Los Angeles Parks Foundation, a nonprofit organization that works to improve and beautify the city’s 417 public parks.
