Santa Monica College has been named “Best Community College” according to the Los Angeles Times’ “Readers’ Choice Best of Southern California 2011” poll.
More than 40,000 votes were cast in the publication’s Readers’ Choice poll from throughout Southern California, including Los Angeles, Orange County, the San Gabriel Valley, Ventura County, San Fernando Valley, and the Inland Empire.
“The results of the poll are a wonderful affirmation of what we have known for many years: that Santa Monica College maintains the highest academic standards anywhere in preparing students for the first two years of higher education,” SMC President Chui L. Tsang said. “From our record as the leading transfer institute to our cutting-edge technical career training programs and more, we work hard to deliver a top-notch education to all our students.”
The Times noted that SMC offers “an abundance of employment-training” opportunities in “a wide range of studies and is clearly a top choice for Southern Californians seeking a quality education and tools for future success.”
The poll winners were published July 24 in a special edition of the Times.
